At Macc Care, we believe in creating meaningful moments that truly enrich the lives of our residents.

Recently, our team at Meadow Rose care home in Longridge had the absolute pleasure of doing just that – with a very outing to experience a Birmingham City FC stadium tour.

Our Birmingham City FC Stadium Tour

Organised by our dedicated Meadow Rose activities team, the Birmingham City FC stadium tour gave three of our football-loving residents and two family members the chance to experience their team in a way most fans only dream of.

From stepping out onto the famous St Andrew’s pitch to exploring the players’ dressing rooms and holding the iconic 2011 League Cup trophy, the private tour was filled with treasured moments and fond recollections.

The club’s 2011 League Cup victory – where they triumphed 2-1 against Arsenal at Wembley – remains one of the proudest in its long-standing history.

For our residents, many of whom have supported the Blues for decades, being able to relive those incredible memories firsthand was something truly special.

Creating Memories That Last

One of our residents, Grayham Chalk, aged 82, has followed Birmingham City since he was a young boy. Accompanied by his wife, Grayham’s day at the stadium was one filled with joy, connection, and nostalgia. The couple spent the visit reminiscing over cherished memories while creating new ones that they’ll treasure forever.

While another lifelong fan, Brian Davis, aged 79, was unable to attend in person, his wife Brenda stepped in to make sure he didn’t miss out. Brenda not only took in the experience herself, but returned with memorabilia and stories to share – bringing the spirit of the day back home to Brian at Meadow Rose.

Sue Lynch, one of our wonderful activities team members at Meadow Rose, said: “The day was very much enjoyed by the residents – their dreams of walking onto the pitch were fulfilled. It was fantastic!”

Why These Experiences Matter

At Macc Care, we see every resident as an individual, with their own passions, life stories, and dreams.

Trips like the Birmingham City FC stadium tour are not just excursions – they’re powerful opportunities for our residents to feel connected to the things they’ve always loved.

Bhav Amlani, Director here at Macc Care Group, said “Activities such as the Birmingham City FC stadium tour are all about creating meaningful moments. These personalised experiences go a long way in making our residents feel valued and connected to the world around them.”

These moments of joy and reconnection form part of a wider commitment across Macc Care to provide not just high-quality care, but lives filled with purpose and happiness.

Personalised Activities to Support Wellbeing

The Birmingham City FC stadium tour is just one example of our broader approach to activity planning at Meadow Rose and across all our homes

We’re proud to offer a full programme of meaningful activities designed to enhance our residents’ wellbeing, independence, and emotional connection.

Whether it’s a visit to a football ground, afternoon tea in the garden, or creative arts and crafts, our teams take the time to understand what makes each resident smile – and bring those things to life wherever possible.
