In March, we had the privilege of working alongside the London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) to create a truly special Mother’s Day outing day for one of our residents, Jean, and her daughter, Anne.

At Macc Care, we believe that meaningful experiences can enrich the lives of our residents, bringing joy and connection to both them and their families, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to bring that to life.

A Meaningful Mother’s Day Outing

Jean, who’s 92, has lived at Sutton Rose since September 2022. The home holds deep sentimental value for her, as it stands on the site of a former school where she once worked as a secretary.

Remarkably, her bedroom is situated near the very spot where her office used to be.

This connection to her past has made Sutton Rose a place of comfort and familiarity, and she’s thrived in our care, enjoying the various activities that are available to her.

For her daughter, Anne, who lives in Buckinghamshire, visiting her mother is always a treasured occasion – but arranging outings together has become increasingly difficult due to mobility challenges and the physical distance between them.

So, when the opportunity arose to treat them both to a special Mother’s Day outing, we knew it was something that would mean the world to them.

Mother’s Day Outing: Making it Possible

The special Mother’s Day outing started with a touch of luxury and kindness for the pair.

Thanks to the generosity of LEVC, a chauffeur-driven electric taxi was arranged to collect Anne from her home in Buckinghamshire. From there, she was driven to Sutton Rose, where Jean was eagerly awaiting her arrival.

The two were then whisked away to Fairlawns Hotel & Spa for an elegant afternoon tea experience.

Sitting together, enjoying freshly brewed tea, delicate finger sandwiches, and indulgent cakes, they were able to relish precious time together in a setting that felt truly special.

The experience was not only about celebrating Mother’s Day, but also Anne’s birthday, making the occasion even more meaningful.

Anne said: “It’s been so lovely being taken out,” she said. “The ability to get Mum into the taxi is fantastic, and without that, we wouldn’t have been able to get out.”

Jean, delighted by the experience, echoed her gratitude, saying: “I appreciate everything they have done, couldn’t have asked for anything better.”

The Power of Accessibility and Inclusion

At Macc Care, we recognise that quality of life is about more than just excellent care — it’s about ensuring that residents can continue to enjoy life’s little pleasures, whether that be an afternoon tea, a visit from a loved one, or a trip down memory lane.

We understand that, for many of our residents, mobility can be a challenge, which is why accessibility and inclusion remain at the heart of our approach.

Our collaboration with LEVC for this Mother’s Day outing highlights just how important accessible transport is in making these moments possible.

Their modern electric taxis, designed with accessibility in mind, offer a level of ease and comfort that standard vehicles cannot, allowing families like Jean and Anne to enjoy time together beyond the walls of the care home.

Bhav Amlani, our Director here at Macc Care Group, said: “We were delighted to work with LEVC to arrange such a lovely day out for Jean and Anne. Creating experiences for our residents is central to our ethos at Macc Care, so this was the perfect opportunity for us to do something Jean could enjoy and remember.”

A Commitment to Making Every Day Special

While this particular outing was organised for Mother’s Day, it serves as a testament to our wider philosophy at Macc Care.

We strive to go beyond providing care — we aim to create a home where residents feel valued, engaged, loved, and able to live life to the fullest.

Our team at Sutton Rose takes pride in offering a diverse range of activities and opportunities for residents to socialise, learn new skills, and, most importantly, stay connected to their families and communities.

Jean’s story is just one of many, but it illustrates the profound impact that thoughtful, accessible experiences can have on individuals and their loved ones.

We’re incredibly grateful to LEVC for helping us make this Mother’s Day outing happen, and we look forward to creating many more cherished moments for our residents in the future.
